"Courage is not the lack of fear but the ability to face it" - Lt. John B. Putnam
Jr.
Social anxiety is the fear of rejection or self-consciousness that happens when a person is at the
center of attention in a social situation. At the time of the prehistoric times, people were dependent on each
other to survive. Therefore if a person was rejected by the group he could have and up alone or even die. That is
the reason we have this built in fear. Today the danger isn't real anymore but we still have this fear. Some of the
people get over it quite easily but other can't manage to do it naturally. Fortunately there are many great social
anxiety treatments today.
I have coped with social anxiety disorder for most of my life. When I was in stressful social situations my voice
stuttered, my heart pounded hard and my hands were shaking uncontrollably. Living with social phobia it's literally
living in fear. I made a decision to regain control over my life and so I did. I have been searching for the most
effective social anxiety treatment and now after I have regain control over my life, my goal is to help other do
the same.
Before we get to the actual tips you need to understand something important. Social anxiety disorder is by
definition a "phobia" which is an exaggerating or unrealistic fear. Understanding that the fear isn't real is the
first step of this social anxiety treatment.
I brought you some of the most affective ways to stop the anxiety attacks.
Natural treatments for reducing anxiety:
1. Breathing Exercise: Use this exercise to release tension before or after an anxiety attack. Inhale from your
nose. Exhale from your mouth. Breathe deeply and slowly. In a few moments you will feel the difference.
2. NLP therapy: This is one of the most effective social anxiety treatments. The best time for this treatment is
before or after you sleep. Just seat comfortably in a quiet place where you won't be interrupted. Now start to
relax by imagine a peaceful place, imagine things like sun, sea, wind or forest. When you are completely relaxed,
imagine the last time you have experience an anxiety attack. This time, try to make it right. Imagine yourself
talking with pride, confident and with high self-esteem. Than imagine that all the others response positively to
the new you. It might be hard to let go of these intense emotion (fear and stress) but keep doing it until you
don’t feel any stress or anxiety. You need to realize that if you can't see yourself as a confident man in your
imagination than you won't be able to be confident in real life.
3. Break limiting beliefs: Check if your beliefs make you avoid social interaction and check again if they really
are true or if they are just an expression of you fears.
4. Natural Remedies: Use smells like lavender, lemon balm and chamomile to calm yourself.
5. Talking about it: the first reason is that it helps release stress. And the second reason is that for most of
the people it is very hard to deal with panic or anxiety by themselves. Sharing you feeling with other person can
really help overcoming this condition.
6. Change your lifestyle:
Avoid caffeine (tee and cafe) – Caffeine is a stimulants and it will make you have anxiety attacks more often.
Don’t drink and smoke – People think that it helps to relax but in the long term it make the anxiety or panic
attacks even worse.
Get enough sleep – help reduce stress levels.
7. Taking action: The most important and effective step in this list. Most of the people who suffer from social
anxiety usually try to avoid stressful social situation. If you avoid your fears instead of facing they will grow
with each year passes.
I took action and faced my fears. I have done things like talking to complete strangers or performing in front
of thousands of people. It was frightening at first but this is really the most effective way to cure anxiety.
Take action today to change your life forever!
